The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 Bestowed on him by the Supreme Intellect, 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) during his other ascent 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 when the lote tree was covered in mystic splendour. 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And another, the third (goddess), Manat? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). 25
