The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 it is not a jest. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
