Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
