The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
