Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 storming tempestuously 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 Then separate them one from another, 4 And then by those that instil Remembrance into the hearts. 5 to serve as an excuse or a warning. 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 So when the stars are made to lose their light, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder 9 And when the mountains are carried away as dust, 10 and when the messengers are brought together at the appointed time -- 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 To the Day of Judgement. 13 Would that you knew about the Day of Judgment! 14 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 15 Did We not destroy the former peoples? 16 So shall We make later (generations) follow them. 17 Thus do We deal with the criminals. 18 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 We then kept it in a safe place. 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). 23 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 for the living and the dead, 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and given you fresh water to drink? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 [They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny. 29 Depart unto the shadow three branched: 30 which neither gives shade nor protects one from the flames. 31 Verily it shall cast forth sparks like unto a castle. 32 As if they were Jimalatun Sufr (yellow camels or bundles of ropes)." 33 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it), 35 Nor shall they be permitted so that they might excuse themselves. 36 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 37 This is the Day of Decision; We have gathered you and all the earlier men. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 40
