He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attend to him, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
