Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
