And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 when he fled like a runaway slave onto a laden ship. 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 Then a fish swallowed him, and he was blameworthy. 142 And were he not one of those who praise. – 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish until the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick. 145 And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand, rather they exceeded. 147 And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 Now ask them if their Lord has daughters, and they sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. – 151 'God has begotten a son.' They are certainly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Why do you not reflect? 155 Or have you, perchance, a clear evidence [for your assertions]? 156 “Then bring forth your Book, if you are truthful!” 157 And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him). 158 God is too glorious to be described as they describe Him 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 Therefore you and all what you worship. (The disbelievers and their deities.) 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 Save him who is to burn in hell. 163 (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed; 164 "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); 165 and, verily, we too extol His limitless glory!" 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 Yet now (that it has come) they refuse to believe in it; but they will come to know soon. 170 And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the apostles: 171 that it is certainly they who will be helped; 172 And that certainly Our armies will be victorious. 173 Therefore turn away from them for some time. 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned. 177 And turn away from them till a time 178 And wait, for they will soon see. 179 Purity is to your Lord, the Lord of Honour, from all what they say. 180 Peace be on the Messengers. 181 And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds. 182
