Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees? 35 Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses- 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for- 39 He will certainly see the result of his labor 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 And that unto thy Lord is the goal. 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 And the subverted cities He overthrew. 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This (Muhammad SAW) is a warner (Messenger) of the (series of) warners (Messengers) of old. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
