Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in a high Garden, 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
