The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 By the angels hastening, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
