The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
