In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of those that are sent, one after the other. (The verses of the Holy Qur’an or the angels or the winds). 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force, 2 By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive; 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 excusing or warning, 6 Surely that which ye are promised will befall. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 when heaven shall be split 9 And when the mountains are carried away as dust, 10 The Messengers will receive their appointments. 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out? 14 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 15 Did We not destroy the former peoples? 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 This is how We deal with the guilty. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed, 21 For a certain appointed time, 22 Thus We arranged. How excellent is Our arranging! 23 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 For the living and the dead. 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 28 Proceed to that which you denied. 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 “Which neither gives shade, nor saves from the flame.” 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 34 On that Day they will be speechless, 35 Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses. 36 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 37 That is the Day of Judgement on which We have assembled you as well as all those who went before you. 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
