The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
