Remember when you killed a man and blamed each other for the deed, God brought to light what you concealed. 72 So We said: Strike the (dead body) with part of the (Sacrificed cow), thus Allah brings the dead to life, and He shows you His signs so that you may understand. 73 Yet after that your hearts became as hard as rock or even harder. Indeed among the stones are those from which rivers burst. And others split so that water issues from them; and others crash down through fear of Allah. Allah is not inattentive of what you do. 74 ۞ Have ye any hope that they will be true to you when a party of them used to listen to the word of Allah, then used to change it, after they had understood it, knowingly? 75 For, when they meet those who have attained to faith, they say: "We believe [as you believe]" - but when they find themselves alone with one another, they say: "Do you inform them of what God has disclosed to you, so that they might use it in argument against you, quoting the words of your Sustainer? Will you not, then, use your reason?" 76 Do they not know that Allah has knowledge of all they hide and all that they reveal! 77 And among them are unlettered ones who do not know the Scripture except in wishful thinking, but they are only assuming. 78 Woe, then, unto those who write down, with their own hands, [something which they claim to be] divine writ, and then say: "This is from God," in order to acquire a trifling gain thereby; woe, then, unto them for what their hands have written, and woe unto them for all that they may have gained! 79 And they said, “The fire will not touch us except for a certain number of days”; say, “Have you taken a covenant from Allah – then Allah will certainly not break His covenant – or do you say something concerning Allah what you do not know?” 80 Indeed, he who earns evil and becomes engrossed in his sin, they are the people of the Fire; in it they shall remain for ever. 81 And those who believe and do righteous works, those shall be the fellows of the Garden, as abiders therein. 82
