The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Beneficent (God) 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 He created man, 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 25
