And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
