Therefore remind! by thy Lord's blessing thou art not a soothsayer neither possessed. 29 If they say, "He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him," 30 Say: 'Wait if you will; I shall be waiting with you' 31 Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people? 32 Or say they: he hath fabricated it: aye they will not believe. 33 So let them bring a single discourse like it, if they are truthful. 34 Or were they created out of naught? Or are they the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. 36 Or do they have your Lord's treasures in their keeping? Or have absolute authority over them? 37 Or do they have a ladder whereon they can climb and attempt to listen (to what is transpiring in the Higher Realm)? Then, let any of them who has listened to it produce a clear proof of it. 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are overburdened by a debt? 40 Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down? 41 Or are they contriving a stratagem against you? If so, that stratagem will rebound against the unbelievers. 42 Or have they a god, other than God? Glory be to God, above that which they associate! 43 And were they to see a portion of the sky falling, they will say, “It is a heap of clouds.” 44 Hence, leave them alone until they face that [Judgment] Day of theirs, when they will be stricken with terror: 45 the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour. 46 And there surely awaits the evildoers a chastisement beyond even that, but most of them know it not. 47 And be thou patient under the judgment of thy Lord; surely thou art before Our eyes. And proclaim the praise of thy Lord when thou arisest, 48 And in a part of the night exalt Him and after [the setting of] the stars. 49
