The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
