Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 And thou art a freeman of this City;- 2 And the parent and the offspring, 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He saith: I have wasted riches plenteous. 6 Does he believe that none has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 (It is) Freeing a neck (slave, etc.) 13 or the feeding in times of famine 14 to an orphaned relative 15 Or some poor wretch in misery, 16 Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 Over them will be fire closed in. 20
Almighty Allah's Truth.
