Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel how it has been created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
True are the words of God the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
