The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
A questioner asked of a chastisement about to fall 1 Upon the disbelievers, which none can repel, 2 [since it will come] from God, unto whom there are many ways of ascent: 3 On that Day (of Judgment), long as fifty thousand years, the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him. 4 Therefore endure with a goodly patience. 5 They see the (Day) indeed as a far-off (event): 6 But We see it [as] near. 7 On the day when the heavens become like molten metal. 8 and the mountains shall be as plucked wool-tufts, 9 And no friend will ask concerning his friend. 10 Though they shall be made to see one another [(i.e. on the Day of Resurrection), there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help)], - the Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever, etc.) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children. 11 his companion (wife), his brother, 12 and his kinsfolk who gave him shelter, 13 And all that are in the earth, if then it might deliver him. 14 No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell], 15 snatching away the scalp, 16 It shall call him who turneth back and backslideth. 17 who amassed and hoarded. 18 ۞ Verily, man (disbeliever) was created very impatient; 19 When evil comes upon him he is impatient; 20 but when they are fortunate, they become niggardly 21 except those who are steadfast 22 Those who are constant in their prayer 23 In whose wealth a due share is included 24 For him who begs and for him who is denied (good) 25 and who accept as true the [coming of the] Day of Judgment; 26 and go in fear of the chastisement of their Lord 27 (from their Lord's chastisement none feels secure) 28 and guard their private parts 29 except from their wives and slave girls, in which case they are not to be blamed, 30 But whoso seeketh more than that, those are they who are transgressors; 31 And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive 32 Who uphold their testimonies, 33 and who are constant in their prayers. 34 Those shall dwell in Gardens, honoured. 35
