Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 a warning to humans, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 From the guilty. 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 "Till death overcame us." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
