Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 But when sight is confounded 7 And the moon darkens 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 Even though he were to put up his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 And so when We recite it, follow its recitation attentively; 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
