The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 on a great day 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
