The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
