The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
