The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
