The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers. 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 so fear God, and obey me. 179 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure and do not diminish the goods of people, 181 And weigh with the true balance. 182 and do not defraud people in their property or spread evil in the land. 183 “And fear Him Who created you and the earlier creations.” 184 They said: thou art but of the bewitched; 185 You are nothing but a man like us, and we think you are a liar. 186 Then make fragments of the heaven fall upon us, if thou art of the truthful. 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day. 189 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
