The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: 4 He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 despite the fact that [both] the life to come and this present [one] belong to God [alone]? 25
