Have you seen the one who turned away 33 And gave little, and then stopped? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 And you are lost in play! 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
