The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the breath of morning 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
