The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of later ages, 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
