The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they differ? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
