And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth- 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 So for Our punishment are they impatient? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 of what avail to them will be all their past enjoyments? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, tell them, "I condemn your disobedient deeds". 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They descend on every forgerer steeped in sin, 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 and say things which they do not act upon, 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
