If anyone withdraws himself from remembrance of (Allah) Most Gracious, We appoint for him an evil one, to be an intimate companion to him. 36 Such (evil ones) really hinder them from the Path, but they think that they are being guided aright! 37 Until, when he comes to Us [at Judgement], he says [to his companion], "Oh, I wish there was between me and you the distance between the east and west - how wretched a companion." 38 It will be said [to such a person], "You have done wrong. Having partners in punishment will be of no avail to you today." 39 Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error? 40 We shall revenge them either after your death 41 Or (if) We show you that wherewith We threaten them, then verily, We have perfect command over them. 42 Therefore hold fast to that which has been revealed to you; surely you are on the right path. 43 And indeed, it is a remembrance for you and your people, and you [all] are going to be questioned. 44 And ask (O Muhammad SAW) those of Our Messengers whom We sent before you: "Did We ever appoint aliha (gods) to be worshipped besides the Most Beneficent (Allah)?" 45
