۞ When [Jesus] the son of Mary is held up as an example, your people raise an outcry on this, 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 He is purely a bondman (of Ours), whom We have favoured upon, and We made him an extraordinary example for the Descendants of Israel. 59 And had We so willed, [O you who worship angels,] We could indeed have made you into angels succeeding one another on earth! 60 He is a sign of the Hour. Have no doubt about it. But follow me. This is a straight path; 61 Let not the Evil One hinder you: for he is to you an enemy avowed. 62 And when 'Iesa (Jesus) came with (Our) clear Proofs, he said: "I have come to you with Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ, therefore fear Allah and obey me, 63 Assuredly God is my Lord and your Lord; therefore serve Him; this is a straight path.' 64 Then the factions fell apart among themselves. So woe to the wrong-doers from the chastisement of a grievous Day. 65 Are they looking for anything except the Hour (to overtake them). It will come upon them suddenly when they are unaware! 66 On that Day even bosom friends shall become enemies to one another, all except the God-fearing. 67
