Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 From Fir'awn; verily he was haughty and of the extravagant. 31 We gave preference to the Israelites over the other people with Our knowledge 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 Yet those who deny the truth say, 34 "That [which is ahead of us] is but our first [and only] death, and we shall not be raised to life again. 35 “Therefore bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful!” 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals. 37 We created not the heavens and earth, and all that between them is, in play; 38 We did not create them except with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 Assuredly the Day of Decision is the term for all of them, 40 the day a master shall avail nothing a client, and they shall not be helped, 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42
