The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
