The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried? 2 for We indeed tested those who went before them? Allah will most certainly ascertain those who spoke the truth and those who lied. 3 Do those who do evil think that they will get the better of Us? How bad is the judgement that they make! 4 For those whose hopes are in the meeting with Allah (in the Hereafter, let them strive); for the term (appointed) by Allah is surely coming and He hears and knows (all things). 5 And whosoever strives, he strives only for himself. Verily, Allah is free of all wants from the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 6 Those who believe [in the Oneness of Allah (Monotheism) and in Messenger Muhammad SAW, and do not apostate because of the harm they receive from the polytheists], and do righteous good deeds, surely, We shall remit from them their evil deeds and shall reward them according to the best of that which they used to do. 7 Now [among the best of righteous deeds which] We have enjoined upon man [is] goodness towards his parents; yet [even so,] should they endeavour to make thee ascribe divinity, side by side with Me, to something which thy mind cannot accept [as divine,] obey them not: [for] it is unto Me that you all must return, whereupon I shall make you [truly] understand [the right and wrong of] all that you were doing [in life]. 8 And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely admit them among the righteous [into Paradise]. 9 Of mankind are some who say: we believe in Allah; then if they are afflicted in the way of Allah, they take the persecution of men even as the torment of Allah; and then, if succour cometh from thy Lord they say: verily we have been with you. Is not Allah the Best Knower of that which is in the breasts of the creatures? 10 Verily Allah knoweth those who believe, and verily He knoweth the hypocrites. 11 And those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Follow our way and we will verily bear your sins," never will they bear anything of their sins. Surely, they are liars. 12 Besides the other burdens that they will have to carry, they will certainly be loaded with the burden of their own sins. They will be questioned on the Day of Judgment about what they had falsely invented. 13
