The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 And grain chaffed and other food. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
