The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and clustered bananas, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
