In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 Stand (to prayer) by night, but not all night,- 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 But recite the name of your Lord withdrawing yourself from everything, devoting yourself exclusively to Him. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
