The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
