The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
