The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And your garments do purify, 4 stay away from sins 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 He looked (at others); 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
