And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
