The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
