(Moses) said: My Lord! relieve my mind 25 "Ease my task for me; 26 Unloose the knot upon my tongue, 27 “In order that they may understand my speech.” 28 and appoint for me a helper from among my family, 29 Aaron my brother 30 Add Thou through him to my strength, 31 and let him share my task, 32 So that we should glorify Thee much, 33 And remember you a great deal. 34 Verily, You have always watched over us." 35 The Lord said, "Moses, your request is granted. 36 "And indeed, We bestowed Our favour upon thee at a time long since past, 37 when We revealed what was revealed unto thy mother: 38 "'Throw (the child) into the chest, and throw (the chest) into the river: the river will cast him up on the bank, and he will be taken up by one who is an enemy to Me and an enemy to him': But I cast (the garment of) love over thee from Me: and (this) in order that thou mayest be reared under Mine eye. 39 What time thy sister was walking along and saying: shall I direct you unto one who will take care of him? Thus We returned thee to thy mother that she might cool her eyes and she might not grieve. And thou slewest a person, but We delivered thee from sorrow, and We tried thee with several trials. Then thou tarriedst for years among the people of Madyan then thou camest according to fate, O Musa! 40 I have chosen you for My service. 41 Go you and your brother with My communications and be not remiss in remembering Me; 42 go forth, both of you, unto Pharaoh: for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of equity! 43 But speak unto him in a mild manner, so that he might bethink himself or [at least] be filled with apprehension. 44 They said: "O our Lord, we are really frightened lest he behave insolently with us or become violent." 45 God said, "Do not fear; I am with you both. I hear and I see. 46 So, go to him, and say: 'Behold, both of us are the Messengers of your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with us, and do not chastise them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord; and peace shall be for him who follows the true guidance. 47 It has been revealed to us that chastisement shall light upon him who cries lies and turns his back." 48 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Who then, O Musa (Moses), is the Lord of you two?" 49 He said: "Our Lord is He Who gave everything its form and then guided it." 50 Pharaoh asked, "What about the previous generations?" 51 [Moses] said, "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a record. My Lord neither errs nor forgets." 52 It is God who has made the earth as a cradle for you with roads for you to travel. He has sent water from the sky to produce various pairs of plants. 53 so eat and graze your cattle. In this there are signs for men of understanding. 54
