“O Noble Messengers, eat good clean things, and do good deeds; I know all that you do.” 51 And verily this religion of yours is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me. 52 But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its tenets. 53 (Muhammad), leave them alone in their dark ignorance for an appointed time. 54 Do they think that by increasing their wealth and children 55 Is [because] We hasten for them good things? Rather, they do not perceive. 56 Verily! Those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 and believe in His messages 58 who consider nothing equal to their Lord, 59 who give what they give, with their hearts quaking, that they will return to their Lord: 60 it is these who hasten to do good works and vie in so doing with one another. 61 We do not impose on any soul what is beyond its capacity. We have the Book which speaks the truth and no injustice will be done to it. 62 Nay, but their hearts are in ignorance of this (Qur'an), and they have other works, besides, which they are doing; 63 Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication! 64 (It will be said): "Groan not in supplication this day: for ye shall certainly not be helped by Us. 65 My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels 66 In pride (they Quraish pagans and polytheists of Makkah used to feel proud that they are the dwellers of Makkah sanctuary Haram), talking evil about it (the Quran) by night. 67 Did they never ponder over this Word (of God)? Or has he (to wit, the Messenger) brought something the like of which did not come to their forefathers of yore? 68 Or did they not recognise their apostle, and rejected him? 69 Or do they say that he is possessed? In fact, he has brought the truth to them, but most of them abhor the truth. 70 Had the truth followed their caprices, the heavens and the earth and whosoever in them is had surely corrupted. Nay, We brought them their Remembrance, but from their Remembrance they turned. 71 Or do you ask of them any tribute? In that case the tribute of your Lord is better, for He is the best of providers. 72 Indeed you are calling them to a Straight Path, 73 but, behold, those who will not believe in the life to come are bound to deviate from that way. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 Already We have seized them with the punishment, but they neither humbled themselves to their Lord, nor did they beseech Him, 76 Until We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein! 77
